Packing folded FoldingFins into a carry-on
The travel problem

Full-size fins don't fit the way you actually travel.

A liveaboard berth, a carry-on, a 23 kg airline limit. Traditional blades eat the space and the weight you'd rather spend on a regulator or a second camera housing. Most “travel fins” answer that by getting shorter — and slower.

FoldingFins answer it differently: full-length blades that pack down to travel size on our original folding hinge, then perform like one solid piece the moment you're in the water.

How it works

Fold flat. Lock rigid. Dive.

Folded, each fin packs to a third of its size — the difference between a dedicated fin bag and a free corner of your carry-on. Unfolded, the blade locks into one continuous, full-length piece that performs like a rigid pro fin — no soft spot at the joint, no trade-off for packing small. It's the world's first folding fin, engineered so you travel lighter without giving anything up.

The folding hinge

Folds in your hands. In seconds.

It transforms — flat to pack, rigid to dive — in one click. A mechanism we invented, co-developed with the Polish Naval Academy, and refined over six years of R&D.

Adjustable fit

One size, adjusts to your foot.

Ditch the old way of choosing fin sizes. Worn over a dive boot or a thick neoprene sock, the adjustable foot pocket — with short and long bungee heel straps — locks in a secure fit across foot sizes.

Proven, not claimed

In an independent, peer-reviewed 2022 study, FoldingFins were tested head-to-head against two industry-benchmark dive fins — from Aqualung and Scubapro — using high-speed image processing in a pool. The folding blade matched their propulsion efficiency, landing inside the range biologists identify as optimal for efficient swimming.

First thing I pack in my travel bag! These fins ensure I can Scuba on all my trips with little packing effort. Great in the water and much lighter than my regular fins. Game changer

Zrobiłem ponad 500 nurkowań i nadal trzymają swoje parametry. Serdecznie polecam.

Around 150 dives and still no significant wear

I bought a pair of your fins several years ago at the dive show in the Netherlands. Since then, I've used them on every dive I've done, and I'm still extremely happy with them. They're especially convenient when traveling because they're lightweight and can be folded up compactly. They've also proven to be surprisingly durable - there's still no significant wear or damage to the material, even though I've probably done around 150 dives with them by now. I'm very pleased with them!

Four years of heavy use across Indonesia, the Maldives, Thailand and Egypt

I bought two pairs in September 2022 when they just came out and used them extensively during many trips in Indonesia, the Maldives, Thailand and Egypt. For me they belong in the category of the few items that are so good that one does not want to do without them.

Over these years I have used the first pair only, the second being a spare. Once the rubber string holding the fin at the heel broke (I used the one from the spare), and recently some of the glued-in rubber foot-rest patches came out - but neither caused a problem for using the fins, and I wear water shoes inside the fins anyway. Besides these two issues, nothing is damaged after countless hours of use.

At the very beginning I didn't know how to make best use of them in the water, but now I mostly go "frog-style" or "stomping-style" and the fins truly have good thrust for their length.

I’m not a professional diver. I was looking for travel fins that were easy to use and practical. This Kickstarter project has delivered on its promises: the fins fold down to a handy size that fits into a medium-sized suitcase. It takes a bit of practice to get the hang of putting them together and taking them apart (if needed). The propulsion they provide is satisfactory for snorkelling (which is what I do). I’d recommend them to anyone who prefers long fins to the usual short travel fins.

Bought them at Boot Dusseldorf - no problems whatsoever

Since buying the fins at the Boot show in Dusseldorf a few years ago, I've really enjoyed using them. On my first dive I lost a pin - but I was in a pool and found it, and that was my own fault, not a design issue. I've packed them in my luggage for trips and had no problems whatsoever. My next dive is in August and I'm looking forward to using them again. Good work to the creators of this really cool product!

Great for travel. I like them but have to have booties with them. Not as powerful for propulsion as my other fins so I no longer taken them on my trips.

I backed these fins on kickstarter because I I fly to great locations to go sailing for a week or more, and I prefer to bring my own snorkel gear that I can also use for a dive should the opportunity arise.

I've packed my folding fins in my checked luggage for several trips. They nestle right in along the bag's spine with my snorkel in between them. On the boat, it takes a couple minutes to unfurl and lock them, always to surprised comments from my crew who are struggling with loaner fins from the boat charter company.

In the water, they are a stiff fin, best suited to scuba, but certainly functional for snorkeling the shallow reefs where we usually anchor.

This is, without a doubt, the best travel fin I've ever used. I was skeptical at first, but after diving with it, I'm completely convinced. It has become my go-to fin for every dive.

It offers everything I look for in a fin—reliability, flexibility, and adaptability. One of my favorite features is the adjustable fit, which allows me to customize the size for maximum comfort. It even works exceptionally well when worn with neoprene socks, providing a secure and comfortable fit.

I highly recommend this fin to anyone looking for a versatile, travel-friendly fin that performs exceptionally well in a wide range of diving conditions.

I have been using them for the last 3 years I love him not only underwater but also the comfort of being small I can fold them and put them in my suitcase Don't even know I have them there

I love those fins!
Light, small when folded. Can be used in any kick style, frog, back frog, flutter and any kind of current.
One word also about the team, they have been always present when needed and really helpful.

I purchased these after seeing them at a DEMA show. They are my travel fins and absolutely great.. they fold and pack extremely well. Light weight, folds easier, and they are also positive so when diving in very light wetsuit, in warm waters, e.g. tropics - I don't have to worry about heavy negative fins.

Highly recommend it - if you are considering a travel fin.

Does the hinge weaken the blade?

No. The locking geometry makes the unfolded blade behave as one continuous piece — no flex penalty at the joint. The thrust data is in the peer-reviewed testing above.

Sand and salt water — will the hinge hold up?

It's built for it. The blade is a bio-based Hytrel® material that resists UV, salt and temperature swings, refined across a six-year R&D programme. One reviewer has logged 500+ dives on a single pair with the mechanism still holding — and every pair is covered by a 2-year warranty.

How small does it actually pack?

Folded, each fin takes about a third of its unfolded footprint, collapsing to a 4 × 8 cm (1.6 × 3.1 in) cross-section — it lies flat in a carry-on alongside your mask and snorkel.

Will they fit my feet?

Open-heel and one-size — the adjustable bungee heel strap secures a snug fit across a wide range of foot sizes. Wear them over a dive boot or a thick neoprene sock, the way open-heel fins are meant to be worn — not on bare feet.

Do they arrive ready to dive?

Your FoldingFins ship folded flat, with the blade, foot pocket and pins supplied as a kit. You assemble each fin and set the foot pocket to your own foot using the included adjustment key and quick-start card. That hands-on fitting is exactly what lets one size fit a wide range of feet.
